The reality about social media right now is if you are not turning out content that is valuable, and relevant to your ideal client base, you are making somebody else an expert. You’re not making you an expert, you make someone else an expert.
Think about this: everytime a cafe claims to be an upscale cafe- a coffee cafe- and they fail, who does it make stronger? Starbucks. Everytime a value-based coffee shop opens up and fails, guess who it makes more the expert? Dunkin Donuts, or the upscale and value chain in your neck of the woods.
So the reality is, is that if you’re not saying something different and better, you’re making the top brands, you’re elevating them. You’re not elevating you. That’s the counterintuitive part of this. You have to make sure you’re saying something different. So while if I’m one of your friends and you’re telling me you’re having a donut on the corner, I might care. It’s not making you an expert, OK?
