Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one minute investment every day for a lifetime of result.
But the idea is that when you’re interacting with somebody in the 1920’s almost a hundred years ago now. There is a psychotherapist by the name of Milton Erickson and he was with one of his patients and he noticed that there was one session with a patient where the person seemed to really talk openly and freely and there was this great exchange of information. And then he started to realize that his body postures as the therapist were in synchronicity or in alignment with the body postures of the patient. And then so he says, let me try it where I purposely sit differently, you know act differently what happens and they found that the the session did not go as well. So we went back to aligning and mirroring the body textures and he found that the session went really well. Well, that was the beginning of what we now know as echoing, silhouetting, matching and mirroring, synchronizing or aligning your body language and your verbal language. And basically what’s been learned is and proven over the years is that if you align with the person that you’re speaking with they will be more comfortable with you.
